Rob Bowers’s first introduction to poetry was as a young boy when his father would recite poems in the car during cross country trips in the summer. The car, his father, and the poems combined to create a kind of cocoon, a blanket of comfort, as they hurtled toward new experiences. Today poetry continues to wrap Rob in a similar blanket bringing the comfort and resonance of shared language and the excitement of new possibility and understanding. When he is not reading, Rob helps to homeschool his daughter teaching poetry (among her favorites Yeats’s “The Cat and the Moon” and Blake’s “The Tyger”), pre-algebra, and violin. The rest of the time, Rob and his wife, Cheri, farm 52 acres biodynamically in northern Orange County.
